We’ve arrived in Queenstown, New Zealand and we’re preparing ourselves to climb the NW Ridge of Mt Aspiring, New Zealand’s iconic ‘glittering’ peak often referred to as the ‘Matterhorn of the South’.
Anticipation is bubbling among our nine team members and, in a town like Queenstown, it’s no surprise. The bustling South Island community is renowned as the ‘adventure capital of the world’ and is the gateway to New Zealand’s Southern Alps with all the excitement the mountains have to offer.
We’ve come to New Zealand on a scouting mission to film an immersive learning experience of a climb of the NW Ridge of Mt. Aspiring. We have a large climbing team with a mixed level of climbing experience and a reconnaissance mission to the mountain is indispensable for us. The importance of allowing our team members to practice their climbing skills while building team cohesion can’t be understated.
As with all our adventures, this journey is real, with all the real life dangers that come with it. Precipitous faces, crevasses, avalanches and a host of other ‘objective dangers’ await us on our journey to the summit.
How will the team hold up? What’s going to happen out there? Will we make the summit?
Stay tuned!! In coming days we all find out!!
