This week, Amy Posey, Taylor Woodley, Cari Michel and Amanda Jordan were in San Francisco to partner with a datacenter’s HR team. The day was focused around creating and strengthening connections, building a “one team” spirit, and having fun.
Over half of the team works remotely and a third of the team has been with the organization less than a year – so this day was an incredible opportunity to build out the relationships of this dispersed team.
The day began with a celebration of wins, reflecting on the successes over the last 12 months. Looking through 5 different lenses of progress, the team saw how their accomplishments impacted multiple areas within and outside of their organization.
In the afternoon, we attempted to summit Mt. Cook in the Southern Alps of New Zealand. Through Peak Teams’ adventure simulation “Reach for the Summit,” the team explored how to achieve to a goal and definition of success by establishing and committing to guiding principles. Along their expedition up the mountain, the team connected how the decisions and conversations on the climb tied directly back to the decisions and conversations the team has in their day to day.
We closed off the day with a self-assessment of our balance and abundance in personal energy. The team learned about the importance of balancing the 4 Energies – physical, emotional, relationship, & mental – and shared best practices on our to strengthens the areas we felt least strong.
In the evening, it was off the AT&T Park to watch the Giants lead an incredible victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates, 11 to 3!
